📅 August Announcements & Soulful Intentions
Hey Soul Fam,
Welcome to August — the month where summer starts to wind down, but our hearts stay open and warm. This season invites us to lean into connection: with ourselves, our people, and our purpose. As we move through the dog days of summer, I hope you're finding small moments of joy, staying hydrated, and allowing rest to be your revolution — especially for those navigating chronic illness, sensory sensitivity, or emotional burnout.
This month on Exclusively Souled, we’re turning our attention toward the sacred beauty of Friendship & Community — the soul-nourishing spaces we build with others, and the ways we can continue to show up for ourselves and our circles.
Whether you’re tending to long-held friendships, calling in new connections, or navigating the tender complexity of community care, know this: you’re not alone. Let’s dive into August, together.
🧠 August 8 – International CBD Day
For those of us living with chronic pain, anxiety, or invisible illnesses, CBD has become more than a buzzword — it’s become a supportive, often vital, part of holistic symptom management.
International CBD Day is an opportunity to spotlight plant medicine, body autonomy, and accessible wellness. Next month, I’ll be sharing some reflections and resources around CBD for chronic illness, including conversations on stigma, safe usage, and community testimonials.
📚 August 9 – National Book Lovers Day
Calling all my fellow bookworms, slow readers, audiobook lovers, and late-night page turners — this one’s for you. Whether you escape through fiction or find yourself in memoir, reading is a form of soul connection.
Books create worlds, bridge hearts, and offer refuge. This month, I’ll be sharing a few new reads that don't lack on plot or spice — plus a mini bookshelf spotlight on authors with lived experience in disability or chronic illness.
🍽️ August 18-24 – Washington DC's Summer Restaurant Week
Foodies, get ready! Washington DC’s Summer Restaurant Week (SRW) is back, with 200+ restaurants city‑wide offering prix-fixe lunch, brunch, and three-course dinner menus. From Downtown DC to nearby suburbs, this is the perfect time to explore new flavors, revisit old favorites, and support local dining. Whether you’re planning a solo outing, a date night, or a family meal, SRW is a delicious way to discover DC’s vibrant culinary scene.
I’ll also be sharing a review of my chef tasting and accessibility experience at Jaleo, one of the participating restaurants, so keep an eye out for that post if you want the inside scoop on both the food and how accessible the experience is.
🤝 Friendship & Community Are the Heart of August
This month’s theme is a gentle invitation to check in:
- Who makes you feel held, seen, and affirmed?
- How do you show up for your circle, even in your own stillness?
- What does community care look like for you right now?
Here at Exclusively Souled, we’ll be exploring nurturing friendships, building intentional community, and the powerful truth that support doesn’t always look loud — sometimes it’s soft, quiet, and consistent.
